What Digital Marketing Channel Should I Specialize In?

Digital marketing has a lot of different specialties that professionals can choose to focus on. For digital marketers that are just starting out, it makes sense to have an excellent understanding of one field and a working understanding of the others. Knowing what aspect of digital marketing will be the best for you to specialize in is very important in order to get started with a successful career in the industry.

Not wanting to approach digital marketing as a single, broad topic that is difficult to understand on its own, one Reddit user wanted to know: "What are the different paths or specializations I can choose in digital marketing?" In this video, our Marketing Strategist, Julie Barsamian, discusses some of fields digital marketers can choose to specialize in and what they require from the professionals that focus on them.

Hi! My name is Julie Barsamian and I'm a digital marketer here are Blue Fountain Media, and today we are taking questions from around the web from people wanting to know more about what digital marketing is.

Our first question comes from Reddit, and it is "What are different paths or specializations someone can choose in digital marketing?"

Pretty basic answer. You may have heard of SEO or search engine optimization - and that's the practice of optimizing websites for organic search. There's also SEM or paid search, which is the practice of using Google AdWords to optimize search results using paid means in Google or Bing search.

There's also social media - so using tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and LikedIn to promote a brand online either using organic or paid means. There's also email marketing and content marketing, such as blogging, articles, press releases, and the like.
