The simple answer is about a month or less for informational and brochure type of websites and about 3 months (give or take) for larger social networking or ecommerce websites.
The breakdown of time estimates and deliverables is as follow:
Design: 1-2 weeks
-We need about 2-3 days to come up with a customized homepage concept
-The time depends on how quickly your team gets back to us on edits
-We allocate time for revisions to ensure the website has the exact look and feel you want and need
-Coding in HTML/CSS: 2-3 weeks
- And an additional week if Content Management System is needed
Planning: 2-3 weeks
-Creating a blueprint (spec doc) for the website
-Collaborative process with your team and BFM to determine all the features and functionality your website needs
-Wire frames to determine the layout for design
Design:2-4 weeks
-Photoshop designs to determine the look and feel of the site
-Timing here depends on how quickly we here back from you on edits
Front-end and Back-end Development: 6-8 weeks
-HTML/CSS occurs simultaneously as back-end development of your CMS (in PHP or ASP.Net)
-A more straight forward process than design as there is only one right way to code a site, and our developers code to W3C standards
-Client is given daily updates, but no need for approvals and edits as design was previously approved
Quality Assurance/Testing: 1-2 weeks
-This is done across multiple platforms
o Mac, PC
o Browsers: IE, Firefox, Safari, new and old versions
o All features are working 100%
• We take care of all technicalities: Set up on client hosting, integration, and moving of files/content/databases, etc…
