How long does it take to make a blog?

Not long. If you’ve got an email address and an untapped well of misanthropic angst, you can set up a blog using a free template in a matter of minutes.

How long does it take to make a good blog? The kind of custom, robust content provider that’s going to get your ideas to the world and the world to your site?

That’s a different story.

The blogs that Blue Fountain Media provides its clients are fully customized to the needs of the particular site. Rather than simply plopping whatever content we can find into a bland, generic template, BFM does extensive research and plug-in work to make sure each element is right. Because of this, it’s impossible to estimate how long a specific blog is going to take without knowing the details of the project and what the client wants out of it. While the full implementation can eventually take upwards of 40-50 hours of designer and developer work, the results are drastic; if you’re serious about your blog, you want to do it right the first time.

If you don’t much care about the kind of traffic your blog gets, a custom blog might not be for you. If you’re just looking to share dynamite smoothie recipes with a few friends or post awesome pictures of your Lhasa Apso in a fedora, you might not want to invest a week or two in a dynamic, one-of-a-kind blog. But if you’re serious about the traffic and features you want, it’s worth taking the time to be unique.

Website Launch: LGS Racing

Let’s Go Stables (LGS) was already providing the thrill of owning top quality thoroughbred racehorses. Now the company has launched LGSRacing.com, meant to help decrease the random nature of the racehorse selection process, thus increasing the chances of financial success. The website, designed and developed by Blue Fountain Media in under 2 months, gives racehorse investors the ability to access in-depth information regarding their racehorse(s) through an owner login back-end system.

Homepage:

Horse Profile Page:

The Challenge

Let’s Go Stables contacted Blue Fountain Media with an innovative idea to bring investors virtually inside the racehorse stables. The company also had a tight 2-month deadline which needed to be hit.

The Work

Blue Fountain Media put on a show of efficiency and methodology to get the website up and running and to achieve all of the LGS team’s goals. A specifications document was created using wireframes to identify all features and functionality. Then front-end design and back-end programming was started, with the client abreast of all progress being made along the way thanks to Blue Fountain Media daily updates.

The Results

LGS investors can track every detail about their racehorses through an innovative owner back-end system. After less than a week in service, the system has already proven extremely effective at reducing the number of communications the LGS team is required to make to investors who can now see for themselves what their racehorses are up to.

Formerly, the LGS team relied on third-party providers to administer their website. Now, with a customized back-end content management system with the precise fields required for updating the horse data, the LGS partnership can administer their website without relying on any external providers. LGS can also more effectively feature new opportunities to owners within the private area.

What’s Cool

Prospective investors can watch videos of LGS racehorses, look at detailed information regarding their blood line, and track race results. If they decide to invest, they can do so easily through the website’s owner application form.
