What is Retargeting?
Retargeting is a form of marketing used to find previous website visitors by using display banner ads to lead visitors back to the website. It is an effective marketing strategy that allows marketers to target users who have already been to your site and have experience with your brand or service.
Retargeting is done by placing a cookie on a user’s computer after they visit your website. The cookie will be recognized by your advertising network and serve ads to you any time they appear in the future.
Key Issues to Consider:
Frequency & Timing: based on your product or service, make sure timing and frequency is appropriate. You want to show a re-targeted ad enough to be effective, but you do not want to turn the consumer away.
Further targeting: you can specialize an ad based on behavior and specific products or services that a potential customer previously viewed. Instead of just driving them to a homepage, think about taking them directly to a product landing page which they have visited before.
