Today we sat down with Director of Content, Bryn Dodson to discuss topics such as the culture of his department to his favorite restaurants in NYC! Check it out below

How do you as a department manager motivate your team?

Mostly terror. Kidding. I’m fortunate enough to have a team that takes immense pride in their writing. So my job is mostly to pay attention to great work or great effort, and make sure that it’s seen and appreciated. I hope I’m successful in that.


What do you think your department’s biggest strength is and why?

We adapt – whether we’re adapting to tough feedback, a new challenge, or a sudden change of direction. If you can’t adapt, you can’t grow, and I think as a team we’re all interested in how we can get better at what we do.


How does your department tie into the company culture for Blue Fountain Media?

Copywriters work with practically everyone at BFM, so if we were monsters, we’d wreck the culture pretty quickly. I think we’re actually pretty representative of the culture here – collaborative, unpretentious, thoughtful about the work but focused on getting things done.


What is your favorite restaurant to go to in New York City?

Probably Bricolage, a wonderful Vietnamese place in Park Slope. I go every year for my birthday and eat an entire fish to cope with mortality.

Probably Mortimer, just to mix things up a little bit.
